The Universal Laser Systems ILS 12.150D is a 24″ x 48″ CO2 laser cutter capable of cutting through a variety of soft materials, such as wood, leather, paper, and some plastics. It features 2 75 watt laser tubes for a combined 150 watts of cutting power. This laser cutter uses an air assist system for cutting, which results in cleaner edges and less burning. Fume extraction is handled by a large HEPA filter and is exhausted outside the building. Fabrication Lab staff operate the laser cutter as a service to students.
